The North Dakota Game and Fish Department is conducting a walleye population estimation effort at Devils Lake in 2026, following the tagging of 2,000 walleyes in the spring. Volunteers are invited to participate by fishing on Devils Lake between July 5th and July 18th, measuring and recording all walleyes caught, and noting any jaw tags and tag numbers on provided datasheets.
Participants are asked to submit their completed datasheets to the Devils Lake NDGF office or send a photo of the datasheet to the designated contact. This collaborative effort aims to improve the accuracy of the walleye population estimate by increasing the number of fish examined for tags during this period.
